Adverse effects of hair dye depend on the chemicals used to make the color. Some hair dye may contain gluten - a kind of protein that can cause allergy to some persons . Lead acetate containing dye is bad for health. Some chemical may have long term effect like cancer. Natural dye like Henna or Indigo ( Nil) is safe but color will not be as black as Asian people hair. If any hair dye has been approved by European Union can be considered safe.

For the most part, hair dyes are safe to use. The biggest concern is hair dyes causing allergic or irritant contact skin reactions from one of their ingredients, such as p-Phenylenediamine (PPD), ammonia or bleach. To date, many studies have ruled out a connection between hair dye and many different types of cancer.

Reactions I have seen include swollen eyelids, a rash around the hairline, and redness, flaking and itching of the scalp. These are usually treated with topical or oral corticosteroid medications and antihistamines.

সাধারণভাবে চুলে কলপ বা রং ব্যবহার করলে খুব একটা ক্ষতি নেই। কিন্তু যারা বেশি দিন ধরে কলপ ব্যবহার করেন, তাঁদের মুখের রং কালচে হয়ে যেতে পারে। এটি একটি অতিসংবেদনশীল প্রতিক্রিয়া। কলপ ব্যবহার করলে অনেকেরই মাথার ত্বক চুলকায়, হালকা কষ ঝরে, তাঁদের একেবারেই কলপ ব্যবহার করা উচিত নয়।
